The shortage of warehousing in the UK is seeing investors stumping up forward funding cash to developers for the building of warehouses, rather than waiting until they are completed and risking losing out to other companies. Traditionally, investors bought up existing warehouses, but are now being forced to advance fund warehouses not yet built. The North West of England is one area where there have been large amounts of forward funding made for warehousing, with a one million square foot speculative warehouse building boom about to get underway.
All of this is excellent news for logistics managers currently struggling with lack of warehouse space, but equally, the practical benefits of temporary warehouse solutions cannot be overlooked. Businesses who want flexibility of storage capacity are especially well placed to benefit from temporary warehousing to respond to fluctuating demand.
A temporary warehouse can be erected within days to meet increased capacity, yet are also robust enough to last for around twenty years. As the ideal solution to a shortage of warehouse space, these temporary structures are unequalled. They can be hired or purchased, saving on capital investment costs as well as reducing the need to buy permanent structures or storage sites in another location. In many cases also, planning permission won’t be needed. The erection of temporary buildings, structures, plant or machinery do not normally require permission, as long as the buildings are connected to works or operations already being undertaken on a site. However, always be sure to check with your local authority first.
